A friendly and welcoming Hampshire village Band |

About Us The band is based in the village of Lockerley in Hampshire and its playing members come from a wide area including Romsey, Southampton, Salisbury, Cadnum and Lyndhurst to name a few. Although the band historically had a very successful contesting record, it now concentrates on proving music for local events, shows and concerts in the Hampshire, Wiltshire and New Forest National Park areas. The age range of band members span a very wide gulf indeed, from teenagers to over 65's !!!. The weekly rehearsal is regarded as a social evening as well as a chance to practice the wide range of music we perform. It usually includes a break for a cup of tea in the middle of the session and a chat with other members. Like most bands in recent years, we have found it difficult to recruit new players. It is mainly for this reason that the band gave up contesting some years ago. With so many brass bands in the 20 mile radius surrounding Lockerley and so few youngsters taking up brass instruments, I'm sure we will struggle with this problem for some years to come. A couple of years ago we were very fortunate to have completed a major refurbishment of our practice room ( The Parish Rooms). This was funded by the Band and the Parish Council. We can now enjoy pleasant surroundings, modern toilet and kitchen facilities and very efficient heating in the winter months (at last). If you would like to see our facilities and have a 'blow' with us, please feel free to contact us or just come along on any Friday at 8 pm. You will be made very welcome.
