We are always looking for new players and currently are in urgent need of additional players in most sections, but in particular Cornet players.

Lockerley Silver Band, based in the village of Lockerley in Hampshire, has been in existence 1880.

The age range of current band members span a very wide gulf indeed, from teenagers to over 65's !!!. The weekly rehearsal is regarded as a social evening as well as a chance to practice the wide range of music we perform. We always have a break for a cup of tea and a biscuit in the middle of the session and a chat with other members.

Like most bands in recent years, we have found it difficult to recruit new players. It is mainly for this reason that the band gave up contesting some years ago. With so many brass bands in the 20 mile radius surrounding Lockerley and so few youngsters taking up brass instruments, I'm sure we will struggle with this problem for some years to come.

A couple of years ago we were very fortunate to have completed a major refurbishment of our practice room ( The Parish Rooms). This was funded by the Band and the Parish Council. We can now enjoy pleasant surroundings, modern toilet and kitchen facilities and very efficient heating in the winter months (at last).

Our Bandmaster, Richard Taylor, is also a well known and highly respected composer and his experience gives us an edge over many other local bands.

Practices are held every Friday evening at 8pm in the Parish Room, Romsey Road, Lockerley. Next to St John The Baptist Church (click here for directions). New and visiting players are always most welcome.
